The Care for your veins Association and the Spanish Chapter of Phlebology and Lymphology launched the campaign “Life runs through your veins – look after them!” at Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau

On Friday March 6, at the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, began the campaign “Life runs through your veins – look after them!” organized by the Care for your veins Association and Spanish Chapter of Phlebology and Lymphology.

The campaign aims to educate the public about venous disease and raise funds for research in thrombosis and chronic venous insufficiency, whose main manifestations are varicose veins and tired legs.

During the ceremony, Dr. José Manuel Soria presented research projects to be funded under this campaign. Especially relevant projects are those that address the genetic basis of these diseases, conducted by the Unit of Complex Genomics Disease Research Institute de Sant Pau. As highlighted by the unit director, Dr. José Manuel Soria, “what we now know of these conditions does not allow us to cure them, but we can influence their progression. We do not know enough of the genetic basis of these diseases, and it is very important to advance in this area as we know that identified genetic risk factors would allow us to identify high risk individuals and be able to take the necessary preventive measures “.

The campaign will run until October 13th (World Thrombosis Day) and has the support of athletes like Nicola Karabatic, Jennifer Pareja, Beatriz Pascual and Emma Roca as well as physicians like Dr. Bartolome Beltran.

Gendiag and Ferrer inCode are actively involved in this campaign, collaborating with Dr. Soria in a number of activities.
